French dominoes rules
French is every player for themself, four players, on a board that grows four arms from the double blank. It is a race where low is good: the first to 100 ends it and the lowest score wins.
How a hand plays
- The double blank opens the first hand. The four arms grow out from it.
- Match the end of any arm. If you cannot, you pass.
- When the hand ends, the pips left in your hand are added to your score. A double still in your hand counts twice; the rest of the hand counts once.
Penalties
- Board pass: play a bone that leaves every other player with nothing to play, and each of them takes 10. Then the turn comes straight back to you.
- Three passes in a row of your own costs 10. A board pass starts that count again.
The end
The moment any player reaches or passes 100, the set is over and the lowest score wins.
